Solar arrays can create sheltered nesting and roosting zones. A correctly detailed perimeter barrier prevents access while preserving drainage, ventilation and maintenance strategy.

Commercial rooftop PV, schools, healthcare estates, industrial roofs, housing portfolios and selected domestic-scale arrays.
Design notes
Fixing method must be compatible with the array and roof system. Existing nests, debris, cabling condition and access should be checked before exclusion.

UKBC specifies stainless-steel proofing systems as the default for long-term external installations. Galvanised alternatives can be considered where a client specification or budget requires them, but lifecycle, corrosion exposure and maintenance expectations should be assessed at survey stage.
