Bird Netting
Physical exclusion for high-pressure areas and enclosed architectural spaces.
Bird Netting
Correctly specified bird netting creates a physical exclusion barrier across courtyards, canopies, loading areas, plant zones and other three-dimensional spaces.
Best suited to
Courtyards, soffits, canopies, service yards, plant areas, loading bays, bridge structures and high-pressure roosting/nesting locations.
Design notes
Specification depends on target species, aperture, fixing substrate, access requirements, maintenance openings, loading and the geometry of the protected area.
UKBC view
Recommended where complete exclusion is required and the structure can accept a properly tensioned perimeter support system.
316 marine-grade stainless steel by default.
UKBC specifies stainless-steel proofing systems as the default for long-term external installations. Galvanised alternatives can be considered where a client specification or budget requires them, but lifecycle, corrosion exposure and maintenance expectations should be assessed at survey stage.
